Fishery Surveys & Site Audits.
The provision of basic site information is essential for the management of any waterbody. AJS offer a full site survey package that will help manage your assets effectively. The packages can include and of the following services:

  • Water supply and quality assessment.
  • Lake / stream morphology.
  • Vegetation surveys.
  • Aquatic invertebrate sampling.
  • Fish stock assessment.
  • Biodiversity assessment.
  • Site user audit.

The information gathered can be developed into structured management plans that facilitate effective site management.

Fish Stock Management.
The management of fish stocks is essential for the maintenance of a healthy and profitable fishery. AJS has the experience, staff and specialist electric fishing, netting and trapping equipment to provide the following services:

  • The cropping of fish stocks to maintain healthy breeding populations.
  • The removal of coarse fish from trout fisheries.
  • The reduction of predatory fish i.e. pike and zander.
  • Harvesting fish production ponds.
  • Bio manipulation.

Surplus fish can be purchased or sold on for fishery / site owner.

Aquatic Weed Control.
AJS offer a full aquatic weed control services including :

  • Manual cutting and removal
  • Chemical herbicide application (PA1, PA5 and PA6 qualified).
  • Barley straw application for algae control.

AJS are fully qualified and insured to apply herbicides to water.

Conservation & Habitat Improvement.
AJS offer a range of conservation techniques to improve aquatic habitats including:the following services:

  • Habitat assessment.

  • Habitat restoration.
  • Bio manipulation and food web management.

AJS has considerable experience of working with Sites of Special Scientific Interest and other regionally and nationally important conservation sites.

AJS can provide a specialised tree surgery service that will ensure that bank side tree works are carried out in a sympathetic manner. Our tree surgeon is fully qualified and has experience of working with all major tree species.
